He doesn’t approach me but talks about me to others?

This guy at work I like never seems to be able to hold a conversation with me, and I have noticed that he’s way more talkative to others than he is with me. When I ask him a simple question, he stares at me with a blank or confused expression before answering. Like he didn’t know what to say. I always see him looking at me, but he’s not the shy type to look away. He makes it known that he’s looking at me, and when I look back there’s this staring competition. He also checks me out sometimes secretly and mostly bluntly. He also defends me in situations where work is involved. He talks about me to others, wondering what I’m doing and why I never approach him. Asking others if I’m shy towards him.

I’m just a little confused with this guy, he comes off as an extrovert but also seems introverted? Like is he curious about me? Is he shy to approach me?

this is normal for a guy that really likes a girl.
for me its the same, its easy to talk to most girls but when i find someone reall attractive i can't seem to talk to her in a normal way. its hard.

if you have a way to make it easier for him to talk to you than try to do that, if he feels you like him back he will feel more comfortable to talk to you
