I stopped talking to this guy over a misunderstanding.. Nothing wrong happened on either side but I think he misunderstood it as a rejection. Now he's coming onto my taken best friend in front of me. She has a boyfriend. Is he trying to spite me? Why would he do this?

Yes. He might have a bit of wounded pride. This is more common than you think, unfortunately. I saw an interview on TikTok with people talking about their exes.

They said they shagged the best mate of their ex to get back at them. So it does happen. It's so immature I think, if a man did that to make me jealous I'd just never speak to him again. They can get with any other person APART from your friend. They are targeting your friends for a reason.
