Why did he lie to try to get my number?

this gym trainer tried to get my number by saying that someone else asked him to get it for them. we both know this person and have talked to her one time. he was a bit clumsy about it too. hesitated and then sort of gave up.

he is the buffest person in the gym and looks so good and is the best trainer there. I'm okay looking and I'm there to get stronger.

I do not understand why he did this. He glances at me and sometimes checks me out and asks me questions and is very very helpful - to me and everybody.

He seems like a decent person, so I don't understand why he lied - I've been so friendly and nice to him that I feel kinda bad.

guys, I got his number instead today, he told me that he gave me his private number instead of the one he uses for WhatsApp. I don't know what that means...

That's way out of line. He's not there to date the members and should never make advances.

He could be lying because female relationships make him nervous or because he has a girl and does not word to get out that he is looking while taken. It’s very easy for a good looking guy to be nervous around women if he was raised by an abusive mother who made him believe that females are emotionally hazardous and unstable. He may expect the worst from a romantic relationship.

that is understandable - because apart from this one incident the way he talks to me is quite good. he tells me things that he normally wouldn't to other people, so there is a bit of trust there. he is friendly but does not overstep his boundaries and does not try to hide anything or try to deceive. he says things as they are and i appreciate that, because i do too. i actually told him that he is only competent trainer i have seen over the years who actually knows his stuff. he is a very disciplined person and i admire him for the way he helps every single member with workouts even if he is not paid extra for his work.

He didn’t want you to know he likes you (which you know now). Even good looking buff guys can be shy around girls they like.

He was probably afraid you wouldn't give it to him because that would violate the professional relationship. I wouldn't worry about it. He wanted your number and you gave it to him. If he asks you out (or maybe he already has), enjoy the date.

Exhibit A of Double Standard, Your Honor☝️. We both know you'll date him, and don't have a problem with this, so I don't know why it's an issue. If he wasn't "the biggest guy in the gym who checks you out"... then we also both know you'd have had him arrested for being a "perverted lying creep" 5 mins after you found out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣so once again...
