Don't know really. Was it a story about your birthday? Does he know when it is? Maybe he doesn't or more likely than it has passed and he didn't want to feel weird about being late saying happy birthday. That's another possibility. Long as things going well otherwise don't think too much about it. Could be another reason I'm not even thinking about. Like he is shy or doesn't want you to know he likes you?
