I’m seeing this guy (long distance) and he SEEMED great, but I just can’t help but notice his negative hypocritical responses to everything and bizarre mannerisms! i. e he always try’s to point out negative things about my character and I when mention the places I want to visit when I come to his city he has a negative response to every single idea not to mention, he always brings his money, his looks or the attention he gets from women as a daily topic of our conversations…

I snapped at him the other day and gave him a very sincere apology for it all and he accepted it but he kept pointing out negative things about me and I had eventually broke down in tears because i had already said sorry and was already having a terrible day and he didn’t try to provide any kind of encouraging words. The next day, I let him know that we could move past things or part ways and told him I didn’t wanna lose him and he purposely ignored me the whole day so I assumed he was done as he has never been that quiet with me before. Now that I’m not texting him and he can see that I’ve backed off he has come back and pretty much resurrected the old situation I took full accountability for, told me to grovel and beg for him back by telling him I “messed up” I refused and he said I had issues and high pride!

Listen to me carefully. That is not a healthy relationship. Yes he is being very manipulative and forcing you to apologize after hurting your feelings and sending you through a emotional rollercoaster is textbook gaslighting/emotional abuse. You seem like a genuinely happy person and this guy is a horribly negative influence on you. I know you may really like him, but you don’t. You’re attracted to his facade that he uses to keep you in line.


I don’t like to be the internet home wrecker, but you can do better. A lot better. Every relationship is going to have problems, but these are irredeemable and will only get worse with time.

Did you fully read what I said? Where did you get the information that I begged him not to leave me? I had a massive go at him for trying to nit pick things about my character. I’m very assertive and never have a problem getting my feelings across and secondly, I stood up for myself when I refused to make it seem like he wanted me to beg him back. I simply gave him an ultimatum and got ignored so I left him to it.
