It is very rare for men and women to be in a strictly platonic relationship from start to finish without anything happening during that timeline. The only time they are just friends is usually because either one or both of them are in a relationship, they tried dating/hooking up in the past and it didn’t work out, or they don’t find each other attractive, maybe even just one doesn’t have interest in the other. Otherwise, something usually always happens along the way.
