He wants to keep our relationship private?

Today is my birthday and my boyfriend of 5 months posted a 2-3 pictures of me saying happy birthday on his “close friend” story. When I asked why it was only on close friends he said it was because he wanted to keep our relationship private.

However he has already introduced me to some of his friends and plans to introduce me to his family at some point. He says everyone he interacts with is on his close friends story.

What do you guys think of this?

Could it possibly mean private to the general public? Like if it is online maybe he doesn't want random people that don't even know him to see that. I am not saying he is hiding it for any sinister reason but maybe he just doesn't want the whole world to see his pics of you guys. I totally get that and only share with family and friends on social media. I don't need everyone seeing pics of me and friends or whatever. That could be one reason he is keeping it to close friends. Those are really the only people that matter to know.

There are a lot of really different possibilities so it’s difficult to say. If you’re pretty sure he’s loyal and isn’t hiding another girlfriend somewhere (lol) it could be that he’s just a private person and doesn’t like to share intimate details online. If you’re a different race, religion, political orientation or trans it could be a political issue. Or it could be something super innocent like maybe he’s worried that his friends or family will embarrass him in front of you.

He isn’t necessarily keeping you a secret doing this in my opinion. I firmly believes he is trying to keep his relationship private without you being a secret considering his family and friends knows who you are (which are the people that matters to him). I wouldn’t worry too much from the guys perspective. Him already showing you off to his family and friends is a pretty good indication of this stance.
