Those are strong words, I’m definitely more of a leader than a submissive. My tip is to get people talking in non important group Decision making, you don’t want to make a decision blindly people may have strong ideas. Swift is the key one or a few answers in the right direction and you get people to go for that. People tend to follow a decision when they came up with it. For important or complex decisions you would do the opposite you talk first because nobody will come up with what you’re thinking. If you’re too submissive you end up doing stuff you weren’t too keen on doing or even against your values. The only viable way you can be submissive is if your in the hands of someone smart in said domain and educated emotionally

Neither. I hate when people follow blindly on big issues, especially when they follow me. It just seems lazy if they are doing it blindly and without their own thoughts. I sometimes even tell them to make up their own mind… even when I was their boss.

If I follow someone its because I think they are insightful or the issue just doesn’t matter and its easier to let them lead which takes effort away from me. If there are six ways to go and they select one, I am fine with them leading some people want to fight about one of the other 5 ways to go but that is generally rooted in their having control.

I have disagreed on direction on major issues many times with my boss. Once my boss told me privately how courageous I was as others clearly thought as I did but would speak up in the meeting. Thats nice but I knew he also must have felt that I was an impediment to his plans.

I was born leader but not overbearing. I think a lot of it has to be from serving in the military having a direction the only way I want to go in life and what I want to do
