The reason I ask this is because there are a lot of men that seem to be interested in such stories for their own purposes. Personally, hearing the details of those stories scares me and makes me deeply uncomfortable, but men ask about women who have been taken advantage of seemingly to hear their stories and add it to the spank bank.

I hear women's SA stories because they need to be heard. One of my collateral duties as a Corpsman (Navy Medic) was SAPR (Sexual Assault, Prevention and Response). This meant I was the advocate for servicemembers who experienced SA/Rape.

My job was to hear them out, get them the help they requested and help them decide if they want their case restricted (meaning only a select few know) or unrestricted (meaning a full investigation and charges could proceed).

If they went the unrestricted route, my job was also to protect them from intimidation by their chain of command and ensure NOBODY in their chain of command interfered. My position allowed me to go up against people who normally, by rank, could give me orders but could not stop me due to my duties.

So, even though I am no longer in the military or medical field, I still feel duty-bound to listen to and assist SA victims.

No, I'd rather actually not hear about SA in general, since they can piss me off especially if I know the person, and care about them, as I want to do something about it, yet can't.

I try to avoid the topic in general unless it's someone I know opening up to me.
