Was a petty for blocking him again?

This guy I knew in highschool who used to tease me made highschool a headache at time. The next year of high school he goes to another school and tries to keep in touch but in a way to see if he has a chance. I had my viewpoint of friendship and he didn’t agree so that was a disagreement there. He blocked me on Snapchat and I blocked on Instagram.

This occurred years ago and we’re now older. Recently I end up seeing him come inside my job and he didn’t recognize me at first but I greeted him. He made small talk but he couldn’t care less about anything else but wanting to know what occurred and why did I block him.

He kept re-visiting my desk to ask me questions and sitting in the lobby area. Finally, he says he’s going to cancel with one of his clients. He asks to stay in contact. I questioned his motive because I knew what happened before. I wish I would’ve said we can leave it at a ‘hi and bye’. His response was sketchy but I unblocked him and he follows.

As I was home I felt uneasy and regretted what I did. I decided to block him again. I forgot I followed one of his friends and I recognized his friend unfollowed me. Not only that the guy is the type to put someone out to be the bad guy without explaining his side.

Was I petty for blocking?

I mean if he hasn't recognized you, you're kinda just making yourself look like a fool. This is like trying call meeting someones ex on a dating app and when they got in your dm's after being split for a decade. And blocking them after their first dm in 10 years. A win level of just unflattering flexing. XD. Its like no one is going to find this level of insecurity a win in any matter. To him you're probably a stranger.

Like speaking from my own experience as a guy myself if I am not actively talking to a girl even a female friend and we were to pass one another at a certain point we are estranged. You could walk right in front of me and chances are I'm not even gonna recognize you.

Most guys can only focus on what is currently in front of them. Its part of the reason when women get outraged at us. Over not reading their minds, most men just shrug and act confused...

Most guys are solution makers, problem solvers, philosophical, and hands on. And more often so painfully simple that to women we seem complex. You ask a man what they want to do after work and most of the time its a hobby that has very little to do with any aspect of what our work is like. The end goal for most men is to reach a point of zen. And as a result most guys end up oblivious to those of the other gender and even other guys who aren't ya know like bros.

It’s a long story but we’ve crossed paths before at church when I was with my Mom. His take was he was looking for me for awhile but couldn’t find me on social media. His entire claim was just off and his responses and approach reminded me of the same reason he was blocked. Different ulterior motives.

I’m aware that my decision to re-block would come off as negative which I should’ve said ‘leave it at a hi and bye’. I knew if I left it as a follow it would turn into more drama of him thinking there’s more as he tried to make it become, me rejecting him as I did before, and this entire blame game of me ‘leading him on and why did I give my insta or unblock him’.

He’s already said he’s been looking for me everywhere on social media and I didn’t want that pressure or the same cycle to resurface. That’s why I changed my mind after reflecting on the things he said.

Your choice to block isn't really negative so much as just flat out not a flex. If anything it shows you have a glaring anxiety/insecurity issue. That will leave any potential partner feeling less sad about a break up and probably more like they dodged a bullet.

I mean think about it - he used to tease you back in the day, you have a history. Then when you see him again after all these years, all he cares about is tryna get unblocked like thats the only thing that matters to him. Weird dude.

Plus him sitting around your job all suspicious like that, constantly bugging you with questions... nah bro thats too much. You ain't got time for that stalker type vibe.

And the way his friend all of a sudden unfollowed you? Kinda sounds like homeboy is still playing games trying to make you look bad behind the scenes. Screw that noise.

I say good lookin out blocking him a second time. ain't nobody got time for sketchy dudes hangin around causing stress, you feel me? You did the right thing listening to your instincts.

Dont even stress it, just stay focus on you. Karma always collects her debts anyway so he's only screwing himself in the end tryna mess with people. Keep ballin bro!

Some people just love that attention, even if it's negative. But real ones don't care about none of that high school gossip crap, they see you for you.

He didn't even recognize you but you WANTED him to so you reopened the can of worms. You're also controlling you want his attention but on your terms. And if it can't be on your terms you'll still take it till you get bored. But still reserve the right to complain about it. Because at the end of the day You're getting his attention and that's what's most important to you.

I had a lot of people that I knew that visited my job and I greeted them and they didn’t recognize me because I had a mask on. I assumed greeting was an innocent gesture. That’s something lll acknowledge next time around to be careful to which person I say hi to. On the other hands, I didn’t reopen the can of worms by saying hi.. he spent the majority of his time trying to figure out what his own information by revisiting the situation. I didn’t.

I didn’t try to have a reunion or Kumbaya moment at work to revisit something that happened probably decades ago. He could’ve easily leaved it at ‘what you been up to after all these years’ and we part ways. I wasn’t flirting and sticking around for hours trying to pick up where he left off. People can change their mind cause it’s happened to me before.
