He probably made it public now in the hopes that some new woman out there will see and maybe talk to him, an indication that he's looking to date again. A lot of people actually do this. I've done it before myself.

I'm sure the breakup has been painful for you and you are probably hoping nc will make him want to reach out, but don't focus on him. I know it's hard, but you have to let go. Someone who wants to be with you will stay from the start.
