Well I’m always staying at a hotel and he has a studio apartment we are both in our 40s

“Always”, so this is a reoccurring arrangement and I think you should speak up about it. At your age you shouldn’t be afraid to ask a man the simplest questions: is he interested and what comes next. ‘Going with the flow’ how you are and trying to sort things in your mind will only backfire because you’re not getting any answers, and for all you know he just assumes you’re cool with how things are.
