What makes guys think a girl is smart (when she really isn’t)?

Guys assume I’m a bookish woman or smart. I have no idea why. Is it because I’m quiet and shy? When they get close they can see I have nothing to say or when I do, I tend to say really dorkish or random/slow things. I realize after the fact how dumb I sounded. But I barely know what to say to people. Usually I force it and it comes out as something dumb.

I know guys get disappointed. They probably think I’m hiding some witty or sarcastic things in my head but I’m not.

You are actually quite clever because you are hiding intelligence behind your shy and quiet behavior.

If you want to be left in peace from those guys that attempt to hit on you, the best behavior is to look dumb and with an obvious lack of intelligence. That scheme leads them to believe that you are not worth spending time trying to hit on you and thus, they leave you in peace and you don't get harassed by them.

That kind of behavior beats telling them a million times that you are not interested. Guys have the amazing ability to not understand what "no" means. You manage, with your seeming lack of intelligence to achieve what others fail to achieve. Congratulations.
