Because it's the one thing women go for in relationships. Much like how women obsess about beauty because that's what men go for.

Well I don't obsess about it but I'm obsessed when it comes to making it you need money to live and im pretty sure no woman wants to date a man that's broke
If you want a man who can take care of you then money and his ability to get it is a very important quality, 2nd only to Loyalty.
Somebody has to earn the money women spend. Women won't, so that leaves men.
Men spend a lot as well tho
Some of us do yeah but not anything like women do. I don't see men buying $10,000 purses or $2,000 shoes... Nobody even makes that stuff for men because everyone knows that men generally are not stupid enough to buy it.
Men buy bigger things like boats and guns lol
Oh the irony lol. It matters because if you want to be successful in some areas of your life, you need to have money
It must be good for something. We have to pay the rent and pay the bills to keep us living.

Why?
Because women are the reason men place so much importance on money. It is literally the primary thing men are valued for by women. Unlike for women, a man cannot be considered a success in life without generating a good income, and women are the primary reason for that.
We are obsessed with money because women spend it faster then we make it.
