Do you help struggling beetles flip over?

The other day it was raining and a beetle flew into an apartment probably looking for a shelter.

It jumped up inside the ceiling lamp and seems like accidentally flipped over there.

It was trying to flip back over for a while, I thought I’d try to help. Got myself a chair and tried to reach the ceiling, but it was too high and I couldn’t reach.

At some point, I had to hurry work and left, haven’t come home until late night probably 11 hours later.

When I came home it was still struggling. At that point, I felt not only empathy appreciation for it as a living being that wasn’t giving up and tried its best to survive.

So, I tried to somehow reach it, but still failed, I had nothing that long at home.

I had to sleep and hear it’s heartbreaking attempts to get itself back on its feet.

The next morning, it moved a little and at some point, it stopped moving totally.

I am not a kind person or something, I can be very heartless when necessary, I eat chickens and meat and I am in no way an angel, but I at that point I felt a respect of a life of that beetle, that died right in front of my eyes after relentlessly trying to get back over.

I felt very sad and guilty, that I didn’t try better.

I still feel very sad everytime I look up.

I can’t believe I just wrote such a long post about beetle. But I was very upset I couldn’t help.

I used to feel this way when I was younger. I had a lot of empathy for living things. Even would feel sad if I killed an ant. But now I'm indifferent. Bugs don't show love to me. They just annoy me. If anything most of them hate me since I have to constantly worry they'll bite me. So yeah no I don't care about any of em. Would be different if they cared about me though. But nature is highly competitive. Everything constantly worrying about survival.

If you believe in reincarnation, that beetle could have been one of your ancestors, so it makes sense that you somehow feel sad and guilty.

But remember, Nature survives. Creatures come and go, and every creature eventually dies.

If it makes you feel any better, chickens are ruthless with one another. I had one pass of old age the other day and she just wanted to bed down and be left alone in her final hours. The other chickens, being the shits they are, came over and pecked her waddle off her head. She couldn’t defend herself so I stood by her for awhile fending off the others waiting for the others to coupe. She passed the the next morning. “Pecking order” is quite literal, even in her final hours they acted like animals.

The world is violent, Femme. This is why men are sometimes violent, so you don’t have to be.

And yeah, I try not to kill insects but rather let them out.

But I failed and it was very upsetting to witness it dying… I don’t know if it’s normal to be so upset about a beetle but I felt very sad.

I am not nice… It’s non-stop attempts to survive and ability to not give up for over 24 hours, made me appreciate it differently.

If God exists, which I have no idea if it does, maybe we are also the size of the beetles for him and wouldn’t it be sad if it could save us and instead watched us die just because it thought our lives are no more significant than that of a beetle?

Thats called ‘the problem of evil’ in a lot of religious debates. Where you see all these terrible things happening around our world and if there is a god why does he not step in to stop it? Is it incompetence? Neglect? Some cruel game? Who knows?

Or maybe just maybe there is no being watching over us up there in the first place?

I'd try to get it out of the lamp but only because it would bug me having it up there, not because I care about one stupid beetle.
