Well, that's fiction because males don't always operate that way... In fact, probably less than half do.
This is because of something instinctive in males which many of us can't even put into words, but I think I can.
Once a man has a relationship with a woman, his subconscious will claim a certain ownership of her. And so, he will always have some kind of interest in how she is doing, etc. This may change over time, but it may still always be there to some degree.
Nonetheless, he needs to let go but, depending on the nature of the relationship and breakup, that could take years, decades, or even never.
Regardless, what that guy said indicates he is an immature asshole. Feel free to block.
