Because he's not interested in investing more. It's a guy that isn't willing to take risks and goes for the easy answers and solutions. He prefers being comfortable about bringing himself at risk. Maybe he's afraid that investing and risking something for a relationship will leave with him with nothing.
Or he's not looking for a relationship but for a girl he can use because she will with stick with him for little investment.
