Will I be left alone if I use social media?

A mentally ill man got obsessed with me and stalked me for two years, to the point where I couldn’t use any social media anymore and I wasn’t comfortable leaving my house. I heard today through mutual friends that he’s lost interest in me now. Will I be safe if I start using social media again, or should I stay off it forever? I’m posting anonymously because he’s even found me on here.
