Is it bad to call out a coworker who calls you a midget at work in front of your boss?

I am petite 5' and was talking about my friend and mentioned that she's smaller than me and this guy coworker who I barely know is like what she's a midget? and I was like excuse me? Should I have left it? I thought that was rude I know its a joke. and I def made it clear I was not into that joke by saying "excuse me?"

HOWEVER even in joke, why are you lying about him calling you a midget?

You clearly stated you said the person was shorter than you so his joke reference was insinuating THAT person must be a midget if they're shorter than you, NOT that YOU are a midget so why are you trying to take offense from something?

He was off by an inch. Dwarfism is 4'10", so if you were 4'11" that comment would make sense AND be logically correct. That you're upset about it doesn't change the fact that generally if someone is smaller than you, it's because they're a midget/dwarf/little person/make cookies in a tree
