Why does this girl in college that I don’t know keep tabs on me?

Maybe I’m imagining things but I feel like a girl in a course I’m currently taking is keeping tabs on me. She is in the project group of a guy I used to admire from afar and until a month ago he seemed to be at least slightly interested in me too and wanted me in his group. However judging from his interactions with her now he seems to like her and forgot about me. I noticed that she would occasionally turn around to take glances at me from afar and today she chose to sit in the row directly in front of me even though there were plenty of other seats. Assuming that I’m right, why would she keep tabs on me?

She could feel in "danger" of losing him over you, so she wants to make sure she "sees" every step of the way. Sounds like she's ready for a confrontation when that happens.
