  @NathanDavis lol i dont hate it, i just dont prefer it. I feel the same about dreads. I dont prefer it on a guy but if the overall guy is great, i’ll get over it but still hopes he cuts it at some point. Short or shaved hair is just so much sexier to me

  I've never really been against cutting my hair, if she REALLY REALLY wanted me to and if she was cool about it... I just never had anyone to really wanting me do that

This man bun thing isn't anything new. The first time I saw a guy wear his hair in a "man" bun was probably 12 years ago on a TV program. He had his shirt off and wearing shorts and man sandals. He was for real. I guess people didn't like it, because it didn't last long as far as men's hair styles go.
But it really is time that men and bots quit with the mental patient hair style where they shave all of their hair off. That style hung around since 90's.

I don't like the man bun. However, I like it better than radical curls mixed in with messy scraggly hair.

What's wrong with letting it grow a little long on top, short in the back and sides but covering the ear 1/2 way. Maybe they should bring back the layered feathered look back. Of course you have to pay someone to style it for you. 👍

whenever I use a hair tie... my hair end up looking sort of like this (my hair is not this curly, rather wavy/straight)

not for me. I have middling length hair at the moment but normally my hair explodes in all directions and has straight, curly, wavy, ringlets. if I put it up I look like a samurai

  it can be quite frustrating because sometimes some of the hair wants to sit flat while a huge section wants to just explode everywhere. but I like it and my wife likes it so that is good enough for me.

  So then why not just keep calling it a bun? If it's the same thing, then it doesn't need a different name. I've worn my hair in a bun before, but I never once referred to it as anything other than bun.

Not one of my favoured hair styles, though in the past I've had long hair that I wore tied back in a double fold tail similar to the picture below, I had lots of practice doing ponytails and braids as I have 4 younger sisters.

I've been everywhere from a one guard to down to my clavicle. I've never done a man bun. For a reason. As @Staximus said, if you aren't a samurai or aquaman... best skip that one.

I wear my hair long out of protest rather than for decoration purposes.
To bun it up would not meet the purpose.
