My boyfriend doesn't want me to take drugs?

His ex was taking all types of drugs and she still takes heroin. I dont smoke, dont drink never tried dring.

We date for 3 years, he smokes weed Tho...

I asked why he never did anything for her to stop, he was even buying her drugs when she wanted even if it was 4 at the morning. When i asked why was he enabling her, he said:"its her body if she wanted to take drugs its her choice. I won't stop her doing what she wants"

Well i was kinda shocked because im anti drugs and id do whatever it takes to make my boyfriend stop doing it, rehab or whatever. He did nothing. Kinda saying is totally her responsability what she did to her self with drugs He never told to take them , it wasn't him who introduced her to that.

But while talking, i said smth and he said that he would never let me try drugs or take drugs. He doesn't want me to even try them.

So... im confused: he didn't care she took it and was totally ok with it

But says doesn't want me to take them

WHY?

I dont want them obvi

.. i just want to understand why his attitude with her was different

Living with an addict is difficult, if you care about them it's painful. An addict has no personality, the substance eats their personality, and most of them die before they get better. He never wants to go through that again. He's not going to wait around to see if you can pull out of it. He's letting you know up front, if you start down that path, you're going alone.

sounds like he made a mistake and doesn’t want to see drugs damage someone again? it sounds like he might have been enabling her some but with addicts you also have to accept that you can’t do much unless they want to change

I don't know, maybe he didn’t want to abandon her. why not help her—you can’t help an addict. the best thing to do would probably be to ask him.

Because shebalready was at the point of taking drugs and was addicted or decided thats what she wanted to do which he doesn't want happening to you pretty simple to understand

He has seen a drug addiction up close and does not want you to end up like that. He is sort of hipppocritical because he smokes weed. Maybe you can get him to stop.

You cannot get somebody to stop using drugs. They have to want to stop.

He saw what drugs did to his ex and he doesn't want it to happen to you. He realizes that he enabled her to get that way and he doesn't want to make the same mistakes with you.
