You obviously are not making it clear enough. OK. here is an example of making it clear when he doesn't "get the hint":

Understand what clear means? Don't give hints. Don't be nice. That's not communicating. Make it CLEAR.

Just tell him straight to his face that if he does not respect that you are married then you don't appreciate him being around you. You may come off as being a bit harsh if he is a sensitive guy but it is important for your friend not to be intrusive because your husband won't be happy and it could possibly cause distrust. I guess your friend is single , likes you and does not understand that there is a boundary.
