Why is this guy asking about my favourite sexual preferences?

Going on a date with a guy I know (he was married to a friend years ago) he’s planned a lovely date.. not overnight picnic etc

he’s started asking me about whether I like sex with lights on or off, favourite position , music on or off … morning or night sex.. questions like this yet the date he’s planned is during the day ….
guys help?

Perhaps his marriage ended because of sexual incompatibility, and he's checking with you to ensure that doesn't happen again. It's a little weird, and overly-personal, but as a guy, I can understand why he might be doing that.

By asking these questions, he is definitely interested in a sexual relation with you. Maybe not immediately, but farther down the road for sure.

I think he's jumping the gun if you haven't even gone on a date yet to see how well the two of you click.

He's obviously interested in sex but not asking for it yet. So I suspect that he was testing the waters, trying to gauge your level of interest in sex and get an idea of what you're into. Maybe trying to spark up an erotic conversation about sexuality.

There is planning and then there is planning. I guess he knows you enough to gauge you would not be shocked / have a wtf moment and tell him where to go. I would guess he has some post date athletics planned and wanted to see what he needed for his shopping list.

Because he wants to sleep with you. I would cut him off immediately if I were in your shoes. It's overly direct and straight up disrespectful to have the audacity to ask someone you're not already seriously dating that.
