Guys, Why would a guy be distant most of the time at a party?

Okay so here’s the thing. My coworker had a party and my other coworkers came. I have a crush on one of my coworkers. At work we’re usually vibing and laughing, we even share secrets at work and spill tea to each other, and I also catch him staring too. Even before the party he kept asking me if I’m going and he seemed excited.

However, at the party most of the time he was moving away from us girls and hanging with the few boys. We obv talked here and there but majority of the times he was just going to the other side of the room away from me. Sometimes I’d try to look at him to see if I could catch him staring at me but he wasn’t. Is this clear sign he isn’t interested?

Also, I forgot to mention that, he watched my stories a few minutes after I left the party and said bye to him.

It sounds just like my own behaviour in such scenarios (but of course i might be totally wrong here). One could say it is about being shy but maybe it is more about being overwhelmed facing a situation that i can't control.

It is like if a girl wants to take attention of the crowd (e. g. by wearing a mini), then she looses my attention because she seems to be interested in attracting others instead of me.
