Why would a guy look away?

I was chatting with one of my guy friends who I have a flirty relationship with. He makes strong eye contact and I have caught him staring at me.

We were talking about times we were in fancy dress. I told him that my favourite fancy dress costume was my French maid outfit. I showed a picture of me wearing said outfit and he gave it a quick glance and then looked away.

It felt a little awkward. Why would he have looked away instantly?

You overthink things way too much. A lot of people do on this site. They tend to think every little action means something. Like most of them don't... this doesn't either. It means nothing. Did anything else change in your friendship? Has he stopped talking to you? Did the conversation after the picture change? Did he get up and walk away? If nothing else has changed then don't worry about it. He might have had something on his mind. He may have been distracted by something you didn't even notice. Maybe he didn't like the dress and didn't know what to say. He is your friend... ask him. Surely you two are able to discuss things like adults in your thirties right?

And if he would have stared at it you would have labeled him a "creep"... he played it safe

If I showed him a picture that was slightly “naughty”, that is my own doing. I would not label him a creep at all.
