Your friends are drilling a notion into your mind that'll make you see men in a horrified light. That's really toxic. You need to stop listening to their advice.

I'm always the person in the friend group who levels out this behaviour. Earlier on my friend was dumped (very, very gently might I add) and she complained about still having to see him since they were coworkers. Within five minutes the girls started saying 'fuck him' and 'you don't need him' until one finally said 'I hope he dies'. At that point I told them they needed to calm down and that none of that was fair on the guy. The girl then reached out to me, thanking me for not being a yes man. It pays to fight back when you're being surrounded by this hateful rhetoric.

I'm sure it's just a few bad guys you've heard about. Most men most likely aren't abusive towards their partners. I know I've been worried about going into the hands of an abusive person, but I know that won't happen, as I have people around me that are pretty protective of me.
