Why can’t some men take no for an answer?

I’ve seen it happen to a friend with a guy in our friend group, then it happened to me with another one.

I definitely don't think rom-coms help since a lot of them involve a guy who the girl doesn't like that way. Then he just lingers around her like a parasite while she complains about her boyfriend, and then he says horrible things like, "You deserve someone who appreciates you as you are." Finally, the girl ends up choosing this persistent parasite and that's supposed to somehow be romantic.

I really think this is a horrible message that all a guy needs to do to get a girl who doesn't like him that way to like him that way is just be persistent.

I hear lots of people saying pornography gives men a bad impression but I think there's not enough focus on the negative messages involved in rom-coms.

It's because a lot of play hard to get. I get It's annoying for women who really do mean no, but it's also annoying for men because it's just a guessing game we have to play. 50/50 chance she does or doesn't want to be chased.


Personally, I don't believe any woman is worth chasing so I don't do it. I'm also not risking being labeled a creep.

There are two possibilities. Best case scenario they are a pick up artist who's trying to wear you down. Worst case scenario they're an obsessed stalker who's decided that you're the only woman for them.

The problem you face as a woman is... it often works. Being persistent may be annoying for many women but it's also an effective strategy with many women. History shows that to be true.
