He could've been asking for someone else. Maybe he just wants a Plan B in case his Plan A wigs out on him and he ends up dropping her.

No he came up to me and told me I’m really pretty. He was like “I saw you and I was like damn” lol 😂

Maybe it was just a momentary fling and, after he got the digits, he just didn't think he'd have a chance with you. Like, "I'm SURE some other guy's already got her, by now! I won't even bother wasting my time when she'll just reject me or laugh at me because she's already got someone else."
Maybe he just lost your number.
Maybe he found someone else right after meeting you.

Who knows, you might run into him again somewhere. I was playing a gig one night that I really didn't even WANT to play! My guitarist's girlfriend talked me into it. After the show, I was just sitting in the back of the room waiting for my ride back to the rehearsal house when the room filled up with people that came top see the next band, for some reason. They weren't all that good. Suddenly, this beautiful Indian chick is standing right in front of me. She turns to apologize for blocking my view and I just said, "don't worry about it. I'm not here to watch them." After a minute or two, she decides to sit with me and talk. We had a really nice chat for at least an hour and we liked each other a lot. My ride came and I had to move my drums into the van and leave. We both thought we'd never see each other again. I never bothered to ask for her number because she mentioned that she was married.
A couple weeks later, I went to a drug store downtown to put an application in for a job I never got and, just as I was walking into the store, somebody said, "Hey! It's you!" It was her!! But, I didn't know that it was her! I just figured, some pretty girl knows me and wants to talk to me so, I quickly rushed in and gave them my app and walked back out. She was still there. We talked and she told me where we'd met before. She was waiting for a bus but let it pass her several times as we stood there and talked for at least an hour! Finally, she suggested we go to her place and order a pizza because we were talking about records and she wanted to make notes of the ones I was suggesting she'd like to hear. Within another 3 or 4 weeks, we were a couple! We stayed together for 10 years.
Turns out, her hubby got a sex change a few years before so, even though he was still living with her, she only used his married status to shy away any guys she met that might be interested in her when she wasn't sure of them. After he got the sex change, he decided he didn't want it.
