My ex lovebombed me then discarded me. It only lasted a few months but he was already talking about our future, as in marriage. After breaking up with me he said he was never ready for a relationship, but thinks I'm perfect for his friend.
Guilt. My ex did that same crap to me: before we broke up, he insisted I spend time with his best friend (red flag right there). Come to find out, he was hoping I would fall for his friend so when he cheated/left me, I would have someone as well.
So that's his way of "helping," or making things right by hoping you date or fall for his friend instead. He might have good intentions but still...
