Partly it is because childhood mortality has gone down considerably over the last few decades. So more people are surviving to diagnosis. Another issue is awareness of it has increased; as well as, an improved diagnosis for high functioning autistic people, and the recognition of autism in women. So people who would have gone undiagnosed 50 years ago are finding a diagnosis. Personally I think the actual rate of autism is on the decline. If you look at previous generations a lot of people would toil away in highly repetitive jobs with little complaint. Now most people complain if there is any toiling in their jobs.

kids catch autism in 2 ways usually, and if you notice it will connect to these following trends 1) parents having kids at older age, particularly after 25. 2) parents feeding kids milk powder. if you look at kids from 100yrs ago, they didn't really have these problems because parents were doing either one
