👋 hi
A guy who work in my house building has been super cute and lovely whenever we cross path , kinda flirty etc. He is always keen to help, and to make me smile.
Anyway things have been very heavy lately. There’s definitely something brewing and I was expecting him to ask me out soon somehow. But nothing , which is ok because I think he is shy and scared of his boss.
The day before valentine I went to his place of work ( restaurant ) to book a table for my cousin and her husband ( it’s her favourite restaurant and she wanted me to check if it would be open on V day since it’s not usually in Wednesday )
when I walked in , it was the owner and he said he was fully booked but would keep one anyway for her - then my guy walked in the conversation , and his boss said ‘ she wants to book a table for valentine , lol but we are SO busy ‘ I saw my guy looked puzzled and a bit lost somehow , but then his boss said quickly ‘it’s for her cousin !’
Then I said goodbye and he said goodbye with a sad smile and a sad side eye. The next day (valentine) I passed in front of his restaurant and he was in , I smiled and waved and he looked at me with with no smile and barely muttering hi. No light in his eyes , when usually he lights up everytime. What happened here , and what should I do?
It’s really upsetting , because I am not very confident in my self and very shy and now I am absolutely mortified and look straight at the pavement more than ever whenever I walk by. I really like him but I feel I have to move on which is sad
Thank you guys

Like the other post said, he's probably sad of what appears to be a real disappointment for him.
From his perspective (and i'm going to assume you're the same age) this man is well into his 30's/40's, way past the days of playing game (if there was ever a time for this) , and he got his hopes shattered at his workplace, in front of his boss, on Valentine's day.
Since woman have not been very respectful to me during my life, i can tell you this isn't a blow you can just brush of.
You should try to salvage the situation fast or you will lose him for sure.
Thank you for your message
He is actually younger than me , I am guessing 29 years old but not more.
I don’t understand how his hope can be shattered when I was clearly not booking a table for myself but for my girly cousin and her husband. I made it clear and his boss did so too in fact. In his position I would be relieved , in fact I would compute that a not for me but for my cousin. I am really confused. ?
I can’t see why I should apologise or clear anything that doesn’t exist It’s ok to book table for family member.
I don’t understand
I think he didn’t believe it was for your cousin which made him sad.
Do you mean he think I said it was for my cousin but really it was for me and a guy?
But then that would be really odd if I was coming instead of my cousin there’s no point in lying on this.
I don’t understand
True, but that’s the only thing I could figure out of his sudden behavior.
Fair enough , thank you for your take on this !
You’re welcome
