I’ll take a different approach. I have said things like that, in a way of making sure I’m not keeping them from doing something they need to get done. He just might have been making sure he wasn’t keeping you up later than you normally are. What was the conversation after he said that? Did you say, “I’m not ready for bed” and you both continued talking?
