Do my boyfriend's friends think I'm ugly?

My boyfriend told me that there's this prom in his college which he doesn't wanna go to. We're currently in long distance because are colleges are in different cities. He told me that his friends are forcing him to go and said that "there are better girls than me". Now, I don't understand why they would say that. I've met his friends and I thought I made a nice first impression. Almost all of them said I looked good, some even said I'm " Out of his league ". I'm probably thinking that they said this because they secretly thought I was ugly or that they think that he can do better.
