There is a biological drive obviously. But there is also an egotistical reasons for it given women are the gatekeepers of sex. Women ultimately get to choose. Women ultimately get to accept or reject.

So when a viable attractive woman accepts a man she’s telling him she finds him masculine, attractive, valuable, etc. She may or may not say that. But the man usually feels that way and its an affirmation he deeply craves.

And this isn't to bash woman, a woman's perspective on sex is very different from a man's so this is understandable, but they tend to make it all about them without realizing. Even when they think they're not. Again, not bashing woman, within limits, that's how I think it's supposed to be.

The part I feel you are missing is this: To most men sex is bonding and an expression of love. I understand it is the same for most women. The difference is that for men it is often a primary way of expressing and feeling loved.
