Why do guys follow a lot of girls on socials?

I know it sounds really judgmental bcz girls too follow many guys but out of curiosity it makes me question what can be the real reason behind being such way.

For some its all about self-confidence (that they are "liked" by others from the opposite gender), for others its about boasting they have a lot of female friends. To others, it can be just having a large number of female friends.

Like others suggest, there also a lot of men who follows a lot of girls cause they've interacted with them socially and hence added them to social media.

There's no bad in studying why a certain gender does certain things. But I think there are more reasons to why guys do that.

Thank you. I’d agree in a perfect world it’s weird behavior. But online allows for people to do things and not be held accountable. You would be surprised how people act on these public questions vs act in dms. They feel safer in dms as it’s less likely they are shamed or embarrassed
