Guy doesn’t give a clear answer to confession?

My crush and I have been friends for more than a year. We were not best friends but were somewhat close as we have always played music together.

So recently I sent him a confession text and told him that I couldn’t hide my feelings anymore. Initially, he only replied “ok,” and said he was coming to meet me in five minutes. However, I kind of backed off and didn’t give him a chance to talk to me.

Two days after, I sent him another text asking for his true feelings. He said he doesn’t know who I am anymore because I have tried to be emotionless, and he would have liked me to be more open. When I specifically asked him if he feels the same way about me, he said he doesn’t know.

Have I been friend zoned? Do I take this as a rejection?

I think the biggest problem is that he wanted to come talk to you after you admitted your feelings and then you didn't let him. He might see that as not being genuine considering if you like him and have feelings why not talk face to face? This is the problem when friends fall for each other. If the feeling isn't mutual then this sort of awkwardness can happen and the friendship can even be ruined. When he says he doesn't know that means no in my book. If he did like you he wouldn't say that. It is his was of passively telling you no without straight up rejecting you. I think you two are better off as friends if you can even make that work again.

First, sending this by text was a mistake. These types of conversations need to be had in person. Second, when avoided him after sending the text you created a big mixed message.

Talk with him in person.
