Why do people act so offended when I don’t greet them first?

Like if it’s so important to them then why don’t they take the initiative for once and expect me to always say hello first? My male coworkers never include me in any office banter, always forget to invite me to everything but act extremely offended when I forget to say hello to them first. They would also complain about me „ignoring“ them if I don’t intrude their private conversations and give me weird looks as if I committed a crime for not treating them like royalty

When I was in high school I had people assume I didn't like them or was insulting them cause I had a serious look on my face when I greeted new people. People can misread social cues, especially if you look like somebody that they think might be a snob, such as skinny or nicely dressed etc...
