Why did my ex purposely block me on WhatsApp and then purposely left the I message unblocked, he said he didn’t want me anymore?

He said he wishes to forget me but if that’s true then why not block me on everything? Why is he being selective over what he blocks me on and what he doesn’t, it’s like he’s chosen strategically, we were together 7 years.
