Should I help this guy economically or not?

So I had him on Facebook for a long time and he was always respectful. I went to his city not to visit him but because I travel a lot in my car and when I was there I had no one. He decided to message me to ask me how I was going and we had a good conversation. Later, my car broke down several times and he was always there trying to help me and looking out for me without being disrespectful or insinuating himself. He’s very down to earth and cold hearted. He didn’t even want my money but I insisted. He’s very poor and his dream is to become a doctor. I’d like to buy him a bike or help him
Someway. Maybe I’m not used to get help without them wanting something back.

We met. He helped me several times in person without wanting money but I did pay.

"Cold-hearted?" How so? That description, if you mean it the way you typed it, doesn't speak well about his character.

It's your money, so you might help him if you deem him worthy of your aid, but keep an eye on him, lassie.
