What should you do if you are young and people don't acknowledge your worth?

You just do the best you can to take it in stride, because it won't last forever. I responded to a similar question from a young lady a few months ago. I think she was 14, and I gave her basically the same answer, and was excoriated for my efforts. It was as if she was saying, 'Don't try to help me, old man' which was, of course exactly what she was complaining about to begin with, only from the opposite end of the spectrum.

You don't determine your own worth. If you aren't treated what you think you are worth you aren't what you think you are or you surround yourself with immature people which is your own fault. Be undeniable

What I mean is that older people always tell me how smart I am and praise my good work, but they don't listen to me while I'm talking and they don't seem to care about my existence.

It’s unlikely that they’re wrong about you. If they are, prove them wrong and give them the opportunity to change their perspective on you.

Certainly have value of your worth…but make sure it’s real and not narcissistic value, I’ve seen several (former) employees ask for raises they didn’t earn.
