Simple explanation, men have external genitalia and sometimes they “hang out”. To avoid sitting on them or putting pressure against them (they are sensitive), we spread out. It isn’t “dominance”, “sexist”, or whatever people claim. Fun fact: If the ‘balls’ are hot/sweating they’ll not only hang but also stick to our legs so spreading out can fight against that too.

For women to understand this, they put a mini banana between their legs (pants) then try to reach their leg over it / spread out and they’ll see how spreading out is best. They can also put on a jockstrap slide a hard protective cup into the pouch and attempt it that way. I don't know it is something that men can really experience only since we are born with external genitalia.

We kinda have to. In the first place, you may have noticed, we have a dick and balls between our legs. This CAN get in the way, a bit! Secondly, and probably more importantly, our hips are closer together. The space between your hips is probably twice as wide so, you CAN more easily sit with your legs closed. Also, as we don't wear skirts very often, especially mini skirts, we have nothing to hide from the general public. Even if we did wear mini's, who would WANT to look up a guy's skirt?

Because we have appendages that can easily get hot, sweaty and uncomfortable squished between our legs, and pulling them up for comfort tends to showcase them and make others uncomfortable.

Then consider, men's hips just aren't as flexible to cross like women unless they are gymnast type flexible or double jointed or extremely small in the package department.

When your legs are really close together it can be uncomfortable for your crotch as man. We also usually have wider body frames and higher body heat. We usually need more space.

I usually do a masculine leg cross when I sit. I don’t spread my legs out like the stock art pic. Not to be rude to other people around me.

Because we have testicles there that are uncomfortable to close our legs against.

Especially in my case, since I suffered from testicular torsion 5 years ago. I've mostly recovered, but it's still very sensitive.

So excuse me, if my knees aren't pressed together when I sit. I get that some dudes take it too far and spread their legs as far as they'll go, but I'm not one of those people. If I even tried that, it would hurt quite a bit
