Why did he ignore my friend request?

Few months ago I added a guy on Facebook and he totally ignored my request - neither he accepted or declined it. This guy attended the same university as me and we had few common lectures during the past two years. Few times I noticed him looking at me so he has to know that I am not a random stranger from the other side of the planet. In real life I was too shy to express my interest so I added him on Facebook. A week ago as a mature grown up I blocked him because I understand the message: not getting a response is a response too.

I know it’s a typical first world problem but I don’t understand why we had that many eye contacts if he wasn’t interested.

You blocked him just for not answering a friend request? That sound weird, not mature. No one does that.


He ignored you either bc he only has close friends on there, didn’t know/recognize you, didn’t feel like friending you or doesn’t obsessively use FB the way you do.

He doesn't want you stalking him, especially if he is in a relationship.

Maybe he never saw it. Pretty childish to block him. Like for what?

I feel very embarrassing that I misread him and that was my psychological defense mechanism I guess.

He had 2 months to accept or decline my request so probably he saw the notification. He was also unconcerned enough to leave the request unchanged so he might never know I blocked him and I will never ever cross his mind.
