I'm on vacation rn and I like this guy I work with. We get along pretty well and I care about him, look out for him and we laugh together a lot and he seems to appreciate it. Would you miss her in her absence or wouldn't you even notice?

I would miss her but I wouldn't be obsessed about it or anything, because there's no real commitment between the two of you (yet?). Right now, you have a casual friendship, and while you can miss the friendship when you're apart for a while, it's not a show-stopper, or even a huge deal. In order for it to be a big deal, there has to be REAL investment - on both sides - FIRST.
