Me - F30, him - 7 years older

So I met with this guy for drinks. Not a date, I know he's not interested but he wanted to get to know me 🤷
Anyhow... After drinks I was going home and there were traffic lights. I tried pressing the button abd he was like - you don't do that. It's automatic because of the microbes - and he sort of made a face.

I felt a bit ashamed. Other traffic lights in that city did have buttons to press on but that one didn't.

I thinking now if I really am unhygienic?

Oh man, don't listen to that jerk! Any guy who makes you feel dumb for something so silly is not worth your time.

Some thoughts:

- Every button and surface has germs, it's not the end of the world. His reaction was way over the top.

- He's just trying to act all superior and "educate" you when you were just trying to use the crosswalk. Rude!

- Most people press buttons without even thinking about germs. Why make a big deal out of nothing?

- I bet he felt awkward after the not-date and wanted to one-up you to feel better. major red flag.

Don't let one guy's lame attempt at putting you down get you down. You seem sweet, who cares what some dude thinks.

If this keeps bugging you, maybe give your girlfriends a call. But honestly try not to dwell - some guys just lack basic manners and kindness. His loss!

I don't think I would handle the traffic button and then lick my hand, but touching the traffic button with your hand is no more unhygienic than handling any of the other things in our environment that we touch in our daily lives. If you wash your hands before you eat or get personal with others. That is all that is required. Maybe he is immune-suppressed. I have read the following comments and thing they are good reads. Especially the one that mentions Control issues.

Hi, thanks! Yes, I try to always have a hand sanitiser on hand but also always wash my hands right after I come home /before eating /coming to someone's place.

Well how are you going to cross the road without pressing the traffic lights. that is stupid, does that mean you should not open any doors or touch any cash.

Yeah the thing is we went on his part of town and there are these traffic lights that are automated where you don't have to press the button.

They are quite rare but there are also loads where you do need to press it (for ex. You if you take a 40mins walk you will encounter at least 3 traffic lights where you have to press it. That's a very rough estimate and depends on the neighbourhood...

Everyone is rude in general. Just look on this app and you can see. It’s an unlawful world we are in just like this community. Humans are just downright “narcissistic” based of this platform you can already tell. Unless of course this platform is rigged and not properly moderated to give an accurate representation of the general public…… Who knows?
