Why do military men pick some of the worst women?

I don’t know how a woman. Knowing her husband may not come home would cheat with another man. That’s disgusting.

I don’t wanna hear excuses about military men cheating. Yes that’s wrong and I feel so bad for some of their wife’s for the men who married good women. Who are worried sick and are being cheated on. I hate that. Maybe some cheating men deserve those women.

But there are honorable men who married absolute trash.

Because they're lonely. They are only stationed anywhere for a limited amount of time and have to move where and when the military tells them. Depending on where they're going, sometimes they can't take a wife and/or family. Last but not least, their job could get them killed. They make such bad relationship choices because the good ones don't want anything to do with them.

There is a lot of women out there. Hell many women throw themselves at military men. You can’t just go for any woman who throws herslef at you. But there’s options

Not so much for a 20 year old guy in a town far away from his friends and family, who has a limited income. Add to it every woman in town knows he's going to be there 3 years at best, they know exactly how much he makes by the patch on his shirt and he could be sent off to die in some 3rd world country at a moments notice. He might not make such a terrible decision if he was at home with the support of his family, but he's very young, with nobody who loves him. He's just looking for some comfort and support. Plus he's in a hyper macho environment where he feels he has to prove his masculinity with sexual conquest. His option, and the one more or less forced on me was celibacy. Had a woman of looser morals had decided to show any interest in me, I would have jumped at her, without considering for a second if it was a good idea or not. Remember the military is full of late teens and early 20s men with a hormone load that could choke a horse. I'm not saying these men are making great decisions, I'm saying circumstances beyond their control make it likely they will make bad decisions.

Young Men frequently choose bad women. And military men are typically "alpha" men. Bad women seek out these type of men. So these alpha men mistakenly think they are choosing a prize. When in reality many times they're choosing and IED that at some point will blow apart thier life if they don't catch on.

It's usually because of military towns having bad women so the men marrying women in town are gonna be cheaters/quick to divorce/just using him for benefits. If they marry from their hometown then it's more likely they will stay together

Not everyone is strong enough to remain faithful to a military person. They have to choose wisely from the beginning or resign themselves to the fact that their spouse will cheat when they're away.

It’s so sad to see what many of these men go through. Women who pick men for benefits almost alwyas are cheating

Cheating has been equally chosen by men and by women. It’s not limited to one gender and it always destroys someone else’s life. It’s a selfish, careless, narcissistic choice.

Ah, it isn't a choice to "resign". When you enlist in the U. S. military, you make an 8 year commitment. Usually 4 years active duty and some combination of active or inactive reserves, during which you can be called back to active duty if the government deems necessary. Your choice is follow orders or go to jail. If you could just "resign" almost nobody would ever go to war, which defeats the purpose of having a military.

Having reread the above comment, I see that @DishLady wasn't suggesting people "just resign" from the military. That said, I still feel this may be useful information to people that don't know anything about the military.

@236color thanks for your comments. I meant “resign themselves” as in “give in to the notion that” not all girlfriend/boyfriend/so are fit to be good military spouses.

It wasn’t a suggestion to leave the military. I wouldn’t make political commentaries like that at all and admire the brave people who serve our country.
