He didn’t follow up after the second date. Did he lose interest or does he expect me to initiate the next date?

Met a guy on a dating app, and had a 2nd date yesterday (drinks on a rooftop). After that I went briefly over to his place and we talked and kissed for a little before saying I was gonna head out. He then insisted that he go with me because it was late even though I said it was fine to go by myself. So he took the bus with me and then walked me home (30 min commute in total) and said he would text me. I thought it was sweet especially since we were already at his house, but he hasn’t followed up/texted me since. He doesn’t text that frequently in general, but we do text once almost every day. If he hasn’t followed up then does that mean he lost interest? Or, is he waiting for me to initiate a conversation since he’s been doing all of the initiating?

Hmm sounds like it went well, but hard to say without more context. A few thoughts:

- Guys can overthink texting too, worried about coming on too strong. He may be playing it cool.

- That said, after 2 dates he should be showing clear interest if he wants to see you again. Not texting at all is a bad sign.

- Some dudes definitely expect the girl to keep replying first before making a move themselves. Lame but true.

- His social skills may just be rusty too if he's been single a while. Could be unsure what the etiquette is.

If you want to see him again, I'd send a casual text like "Thanks again for the other night, hope you got home okay!" and see how he responds. That puts the ball in his court without coming on too strong.

If he doesn't reciprocate the interest after that, then I'd say he's probably lost it and you should move on. But no harm in one polite follow up text to be sure! Let me know how it goes sis.
