26 yo- not much dating experience
In the first week at my new job there was an outing with all departments. I was in a group with people in their 20s and we played truth or dare. A guy asked me who is the cutest and I said it was this guy. I felt embarassed. He seemd to feel the same. Another round. They dared me to kiss him and I did, on the cheek. After that we would smile at each other when we would meet in the hallway and I would catch him stare at me from time to time. He seemed nervous and sometimes he would blush.
A new girl joined our team. Very straightforward she said she likes him, followed him on instagram (I don't have social media). On the other hand I kept it a secret. The girls from my department wanted to help her.
A company party was approaching and he started to stare at me even more but he would look away when I looked back.
At the party the girls were pushing the new girl onto him while dancing and she would lean on him while talking. It made me uncomfortable so I left the group to dance. Not long after he came and put his arm on my lower back. I put my hand on his arm but I didn't push it away. The music stopped, we were both nervous and he removed his arm. The other appeared and put themselves between us and that girl gave him her drink to taste it. At some point he got separated again from them and touched my lower back while passing by.
I had to leave at 2 am with 2 other girls. He didn't see me.
From what I found out they continued to push her onto him and he ended up driving her home. A few days later they slept together.
I felt horrible.
They are some kinds of friends with benefits because she still thinks about her ex.
The attraction between us remained the same but he started smiling and staring at me as much as he did before sleeping with her recently (6 months later).
What should I even think about this?
