Fiancé wears cologne to work every time he works with his female boss (40 y. o)?

She has a boyfriend and two kids. Additionally there is no career ladder to climb as he works in a small car parts shop.

When she is not there he is not using cologne. When he is working with another guy he forgets to use it. I recently became insecure about it…

What does it mean?

Guys are either cologne guys or not. If he’s in an executive setting it’s normal to wear a little cologne regardless of who his boss is. Studies show that engaging the olfactory system in greeting a person contributes to the impression you make.


Possibly if he’s the sweaty type and going into a meeting with her he’ll add some just to make sure he doesn’t smell like crap.

Ultimately she’s a woman in a position of power above him and older than him so it could be that he’s somewhat nervous around her and wants to freshen up and make sure he doesn’t smell like BO and come off as unprofessional.

Maybe talk to him about it, don’t be accusatory but just ask if he’s nervous about his image around her or something. And say you trust him but it’s slightly worrying and feels like he’s wearing cologne for another woman.

We live together. He wears it rarely now that I think about it. He is working in his garage in his free time and on sundays he does not use it either.
