Guys, why would a guy heavily pursue me in person (we work together) but seems to play mind games when we’re apart?

Things like asking me to come over later but not texting me, or at first saying that he’s been overthinking things and wants to keep things cordial but then continues to pursue me afterwards?

There is many possible reasons. But what you need to do is stop playing his games and move on.

One reason…. He’s keeping you on the back burner. He’s keeping you interested enough so that if nothing works out with anyone else… He can find you.

Another possible reason (and keep in mind it can be a combination of things) it’s narcissistic supply. They FEED off of attention and even the mental, emotional, etc suffering of another person. It feels powerful to keep people interested in them. Just to feed their own ego.

Another reason? Maybe he isn’t mentally stable. He wants you then he doesn’t and flip flops. Instead of just dating and seeing if he keeps or looses interest. He plays these games.

There is other possible reasons. I’m not a mind reader and neither are you. In wouldn't waste your time. You need to be clear with him that you have shown interest and he ignores your texts and said he wants to keep things cordial.

Ignoring someone intentionally is cowardly. Sure people also go to the extreme of texting someone at work or at 3:00 am and expecting a text in 5 minutes. But that’s another ballgame.

If he genuinely wanted you he wouldn’t play games like this though. These people are dangerous to be messing around with and it’s probably a sick game of his.

You might not be giving him the same he is trying to give to you , he is probably unsure how you truly feel about him? If you are t reaching out to him , he might assume you really aren’t into him , the phone works both ways , so the fact that he is asking
You to hang out after work he is probably waiting for you to reach out to him next
